War criminals must be tried in country: PM

SEOUL, May 16 (BSS): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today categorically said that the heinous elements, who perpetrated crimes against humanity during the Great War of Liberation, must be tried in the country.
"The people of Bangladesh want trial of the criminals..and the government has already taken measures to hold trial of those responsible for crimes against humanity during the Great War of Liberation." she said.
The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the Bangladesh Festival at Zhangchu Gymnasium here this afternoon.
Korean Labour Minister Yim Tae Hee, President of Bangladesh-South Korea Friendship Forum Kim Chong-Hoang and Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Shahidul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
A large number of expatriate Bangladeshis living in South Korea joined the festival jointly organised by Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul, Korea Migrants Centre and Bangladesh-Korea Friendship Forum.
An earlier UNB report adds: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here Sunday morning to begin a three-day visit to South Korea.
A flight of Thai Airways carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage touched Incheon Airport at 6:15 am (local time).
On her arrival, the Prime Minister was warmly received by high government officials, including the South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister was given a guard of honor at the airport after which she drove in a colourful motorcade to her hotel suite at Grand Hyatt.
Earlier, Hasina left Dhaka on Saturday noon for Bangkok by a Thai Airways flight en route to Seoul on a five-day visit to South Korea and Malaysia.
