Work on Padma Bridge begins in new fiscal year

Construction of the gigantic Padma bridge will start in the 2008-09 fiscal year, beginning next month, involving an estimated cost of Tk 85.88 billion. Of the total amount, donors and international development agencies will provide Tk 55.83 billion under Project Loan Assistance while government will spend Tk 30.05 billion. This was disclosed at a meeting on the construction of the bridge with Communications Adviser Major Gen. (Retd) MA Matin in the chair Monday.   -UNB
