World leaders and diplomatic missions have congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on his party's decisive election victory, expressing readiness to work closely with the new government to strengthen bilateral ties and regional cooperation.
Congratulatory messages poured in from India, China, the United States, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election held on Thursday, reports BSS. France on Saturday congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the orderly and transparent conduct of the February 12 parliamentary elections, welcoming the European Union Observation Mission's positive conclusions and expressing readiness to work with the new government.
In a message issued by the Embassy of France in Dhaka, Paris lauded the "Successful and credible elections which took place orderly and transparently on February 12".
The French Embassy also congratulated all the elected candidates as well as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its leader 'Tarique Rahman' for their victory.
France welcomed the positive assessment made by the European Union Election Observation Mission and expressed appreciation for its efforts.
"We welcome the European Union Observation Mission's positive conclusions and thank all its volunteers for their dedication," the message said.
The embassy reaffirmed France's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh under the newly-elected leadership.
"We look forward to working actively with the new government to develop the longstanding partnership between France and Bangladesh," it added.
Germany on Saturday congratulated Tarique Rahman on his election victory, commending Bangladeshi voters for meaningful democratic participation and expressing readiness to work closely with the new government and parliament.
"We congratulate Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on the election victory," read a message, issued by the German embassy in Dhaka.
The German government also praised the active participation of the Bangladeshi people in the electoral process.
"We also commend the people of Bangladesh for their participation in the electoral process -- a meaningful expression of democratic engagement -- and extend our congratulations to all newly elected Members of Parliament," the statement added.
Germany expressed its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh under the newly elected leadership.
"Germany looks forward to working closely with the new government and the Jatiya Sangsad to further strengthen our political and economic ties, and to continue supporting Bangladesh on its path of democratic reforms and development," the embassy said.
Egypt on Saturday congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on his election victory, lauding the successful conduct of the parliamentary polls and expressing readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with the new government.
In a message issued by the Egypt Embassy in Dhaka, Cairo extended its "sincere congratulations to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Mr. Tarique Rahman on their election victory."
The embassy also conveyed its congratulations to the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the parliamentary elections, which reflect the will and aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.
Egypt expressed optimism about strengthening ties with Bangladesh under the newly-elected leadership.
"Egypt looks forward to working closely with the new Bangladeshi government to further strengthen the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two brotherly nations, and to advance our shared aspirations for development, stability and prosperity," according to the message.
