Ziaul Huq Zia, Dipjal to face tax evasion cases

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has decided to file separate tax evasion cases against film producer Monowar Hossain Dipjal and former state minister and BNP lawmaker Ziaul Huq Zia for concealing vital wealth information.
The NBR, in its board meeting, Monday took the decision to file tax evasion cases under income tax ordinance 1984, sections 165, 166 and 169.
The board has found that Monowar Hossain Dipjal had furnished false statements relating to his income and wealth from 1989-90 to 2006-07 tax years.
He concealed information on purchase of land, weapons, gold ornaments and car and failed to disclose his bank accounts, investment in filmmaking, income from house rent, renovation of house and properties.
The NBR board gave its consent to file case against him for evading tax for 18 years.
The board will also file cases against BNP lawmaker Ziaul Huq Zia for evasion of tax for five years and also for submission of false statements of his income and assets.
