The number of the registration to the Universal Pension Scheme has crossed 0.1 million as the scheme is getting popular among common people for their financial security.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched the pension scheme on August 17, 2023 to ensure a sustainable and well-organised social security for the elderly people of the country.

A press release issued on Monday by the National Pension Authority mentioned that the pension scheme was at first launched in four titles -"Probash", "Pragati", "Surokkha" and "Samota".

A new scheme titled "Prottoy" has been added for the officials and employees of the self-governed, autonomous, and state-owned enterprises which will come into effect for those who join in the jobs on July 1 next.

It also mentions that the field administration has been involved actively in reaching the benefits of the pension scheme to the doorsteps of common people.

The pension authorities have formed "universal pension operation implementation and coordination committees" at national, divisional, district and upazila levels.

The field administration has been given specific directives to promote the pension scheme, it says.

According to the pension authorities, Tk 420 million has so far been invested in treasury bond from the subscribed amount.

"The concept of the pension scheme is popularising day by day for financial security of the citizens in the developing countries," the release reads.
