10 banks, three instts 'sustainable' in BD

Some 10 private commercial banks and three financial institutions have been rated as sustainable financial institutions in Bangladesh.

According to the Bangladesh Bank's sustainable report 2023, the 10 top banks are BRAC Bank, City Bank, Eastern Bank, Exim Bank, Jamuna Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, Prime Bank, Trust Bank, United Commercial Bank and Uttara Bank.

Among them, BRAC Bank, Jamuna Bank, Prime Bank, City Bank, Trust Bank and United Commercial Bank were also rated in the same category in its 2022 edition.

The three financial institutions, which have been ranked in sustainable rating this year, are IDLC Finance, IPDC Finance and United Finance.

Among them, IDLC Finance Limited was also ranked in the same category in 2022.

The Bangladesh Bank evaluation is based on five indicators - sustainable finance index, social responsibility activities, environmentally friendly project financing, sustainable core banking index and scope of banking services.
