Some 1.05 million taxpayers have completed registration for online income tax return filing using the new e-Return portal of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), reports UNB.
The number of online income tax return filings has crossed 250,000, the NBR said on Sunday.
Taxpayers of different categories can easily and quickly prepare and file their returns online using the e-Return website.
On the portal, users can pay taxes through internet banking, which includes the use of mobile financial services. They will also have the facility to download and print copies of their returns, receipts, and income tax and TIN certificates. Moreover, users can also download and print tax returns filed in the year before.
Besides, taxpayers can report any problems related to e-Return through e-mail from the eTax Service option of the portal, which has been advertised as being resolved at the earliest.
A video tutorial on online return filing is available on the NBR's website, YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The NBR set up a call centre to assist taxpayers with any issues related to e-Return. Taxpayers will receive instant solution related to e-Return queries over the phone dialling 09643-717171 during office hours.
Training programmes have been initiated already in all ministries and departments to provide support to the employees in the process of online income tax return filings.
Moreover, under the NBR initiative, training has been going on for about 1600 representatives of all the scheduled banks, mobile telecom service providers and some multinational companies.
Government employees under the jurisdiction of income tax circles in Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Gazipur and Narayanganj City Corporation have the obligation to file income tax returns online from 08:00 am to 10:00 pm.
An A-Challan Help Desk has been set up to provide emergency services.
Individuals and organisation can fill an online form on the portal to apply for a workshop for online e-return filing arranged by the NBR, which will inform the subsequent date and time of the training.
NBR invited all taxpayers to file returns online for smooth processing and enjoying hassle free service on the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd website.
