12 arrested for role in bank draft forgery

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Thursday arrested 12 persons in the city for their alleged involvement in bank draft forgery.
The arrested persons were identified as Akter Hossain (33), Abhijeet (32), Jahangir (31), Belal Member (55), Abdul Majid (40), Tara Mia (60), Osman (52), Amirul (45), Mohan (35), Yameen (18), Suruj Mia (48), and Abdus Salam (29).
Sources said the arrested persons were involved in bank draft forgery for a long time.
Members of the RAB-3 arrested their leaders Akter Hossain and Abhijeet from two hotels under the city's Jatrabari police station.
Later, on their confessional statement the RAB members in collaboration with the police raided the spots identified and arrested the culprits of the forgery syndicate, RAB sources said.
The RAB also recovered the computers and other printing equipment used in the forgery from their possession.
The RAB sources said the members of the syndicate misappropriated at least Tk 3.0 billion through the bank draft forgery over the last few years.
A case was filed with the Jatrabari police station in this connection.
