12 projects worth Tk 47.61b get cabinet nod

The Cabinet Committee on Purchase gave approval on Wednesday to 12 projects with a total cost of over Tk 47.61 billion that include procuring four ships from Italy at a cost of Tk 9.66 billion and six ships from China at a cost of over 18.11 billion.
The other projects the committee approved are dredging work by cutter suction dredger for improving navigability of Khulna-Gajirhat-Bardia-Manikdha and Dilalpur-Ghoradigha-Chamraghat-Nikli-Netrokona of Bangladesh inland waterways at cost of over Tk 1.75 billion, building new public silos at a cost of Tk 129 million, upgradation of rural electricity distribution system (Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions) at a cost of Tk 574 million, development of operational facilities of Khulna and Benapole railway stations at a cost of 18.11 billion, building new railway track between Ishwardi (Pabna) to Dalakchar at a cost of Tk 640 million, management and supervision consultant (MSC) for distribution network improvement (DNI) of Dhaka WASA at cost of over Tk 3.11 billion and construction of road from Chittagong town to Patenga at a cost of Tk over 6.40 billion.   
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith presided over the meeting. Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Engr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, among others, were present.
