The 146 Bangladeshi migrants, brought back from Myanmar after being adrift at the sea for nearly two months, have begun to return home, reports bdnews24.com.
Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali Hossain on Wednesday said about  24 of them were juveniles and would be returned with the help of the Red Crescent Society.
He said police would oversee the process of sending the others to their home districts.
But police would hand over the victims to the relatives if any of them comes to Cox's Bazar in the meantime, he added.
"The process will start today," the DC said at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
On May 21, the Myanmar Navy rescued 208 migrants from a boat near its coast.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) brought 150 of them, preliminarily identified as Bangladeshis, through the Ghumdhum border in Naikhyangchharhi and handed them over to police on Monday.
Two Rohingyas from Cox's Bazar Rohingya camp-Hamid Hossain, 26, and Mohammad Idris, 19 -- were identified among them.
