The government Tuesday appointed 179 officials working at different levels of the judiciary as judicial magistrates, reports bdnews24.com.
There was no official announcement from the government in the form of a circular, but a senior official of the Supreme Court confirmed the news to bdnews24.com.
Supreme Court registrar Iktedar Ahmed told the news agency: "The judicial magistrates were appointed on merit."
The government for the first time gave appointments to the important posts as part of efforts to complete the process of separating the judiciary from the executive.
