184 selected for CIP status for 2022

FE REPORT | April 04, 2024 00:00:00

The government has chosen a total of 184 business persons for CIP (commercially important person) status for the year 2022.

Of the honorees, 140 will receive the status for their outstanding performance in the export category.

Meanwhile, 44 individuals from different trade chambers and bodies got the cards in the ex-officio category.

Commerce ministry issued a gazette regarding the issue on Wednesday.

Eminent business personalities are recognised every year for their extraordinary performance and contribution under export and trade categories.

State minister for commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu is expected to hand over the CIP cards to the final recipients at a programme.

The facilities a CIP cardholder enjoys include priority in seat reservations in airlines and also in rail-road-waterway transportation.

A CIP also gets a letter of introduction from the foreign ministry while travelling abroad.

They get special passes to enter the secretariat, use special stickers on their cars and get invitations to different public functions.

The CIPs and their dependants also get cabins in hospitals on a priority basis.

Earlier, the Export Promotion Bureau sent a draft list of the CIPs to the ministry concerned for taking necessary steps in this connection.
