2 die of dengue, 26 catch Covid-19 in 24 hours

Two more dengue patients died and 392 others were hospitalised across the country in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, while 26 fresh Covid-19 cases were also reported during the same period, indicating a simultaneous public health challenge.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), dengue continues to spread across divisions, with the highest number of hospitalisations reported in Barishal (118), followed by Dhaka South City Corporation (45), Chattogram (43), Dhaka North City Corporation (26), Rajshahi (29), Khulna (16), Mymensingh (5), and Sylhet (1).
With the latest figures, the total number of dengue cases this year has risen to 8,870, with 36 confirmed deaths. A total of 319 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases are seeing a gradual uptick. With the 26 new cases till Wednesday morning, the number of people tested positive increased by five than the previous day. Although no new deaths were recorded over the past two days.
