The government adorned 22 businesspersons with Commercially Important Person (CIP) status for the current year in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the national economy through their performance in the industrial sector, report UNB and bdnews24.com.
An official announcement Sunday said they got the CIP (industries) status under the CIP (industries) Policy 2008. Seven of them have been selected ex-officio, eight for setting up large-scale industries, five for medium-scale, and two for small industries.
Their laudable performances were in fields like setting up industrial units under private sector, production, employment generation and enhancing national income.
Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Mahbub Jamil in a ceremony held at the Industries Ministry Sunday handed over the CIP cards to the VIPs in business domain.
The seven ex-officio CIPs are : Annisul Huq, President of FBCCI, Oliur Rahman Bhuiyan, President of FICCI, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, President of CCCI, Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon, President of NASCIB, Abdul Hye Sarker, Chairman of BTMA, Nasreen Awal Mintoo, President of WEAB, and MA Shaheed, acting president of BCI.
CIPs for large-scale industries are : Golam Mostafa, Chairman of Deshbandhu Sugar Mills, Masih Ul Karim, MD (now adviser) of Barger Paints Bangladesh Ltd, Ali Hussain Akbar Ali, MD of Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills Ltd, Riazuddin Al Mamun, MD of Ipillion Group, M Shahjahan, Chairman of Jalal Ahmed Spinning Mills Ltd, M Golam Farooq, MD of FS Sweater Ltd, Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Director of Agricultural Marketting Co Ltd, and Mahbub Jamil, MD of Singer Bangladesh.
Major General Amjad Khan, MD of Pran Foods Ltd, M Mujibur Rahman, MD of BRB Polymer Ltd, Eng M Nurul Huq, Director of Sagar Garments Ltd, M Mizbar Rahman, MD of Kiam Metal Industries Ltd, and M Miraz Hossain, MD of MP Sweater, got the CIP status for medium-scale industries, and Mahmudur Rahman, MD of MBM Garments Ltd, and Arshad Jamal, Chairman of Tusuka Fasions Ktd, for small industries.
"The CIP cards given by the industries ministry to the CIPs (industries) would be considered as entry cards to the Secretariat from now on," said the release.
