A huge quantity of narcotics was recovered from outbound luggage, and two suspected traffickers were also arrested at Zia International Airport (ZIA) Monday, reports UNB.
The arrested China-bound passengers are Ariful Islam Bhuiyan and Mahmud Ali, who were carrying five packs of luggage stuffed with the drugs. Arif hailed from Habiganj, while Mahmud from Narayanganj.
Following their suspicious movement, immigration and customs officers challenged the two, and eventually nabbed them at gate No 18 on the 2nd floor at the ZIA at about 12 noon.
Both were scheduled to fly for China. The officials searched luggages of the arrested duo, as the scanning machine indicated that there were something illegal inside the luggages during the scanning, and then found 24-kg drugs. "We've already sent a portion of the seized drugs to the laboratory of Narcotics Control Department for laboratory test," one customs official said.
