Police Wednesday filed a case against 3,000 garment workers for their alleged ties to protests and a road blockade in Savar, a police officer said, reports bdnews24.com.
Garment workers blocked traffic in Savar Tuesday, vandalised vehicles and put up barricades on Abdullahpur-EPZ motorway to protest the rumoured death of a colleague in a road accident.
Shafiul Alam, sub-inspector (SI) of Ashulia police sta tion, said Savar correspondent of private television channel Ekushey was also named in the case on charges of fuelling the protests.
Sub-inspector Obaidul Islam filed the case with the Ashulia police station.
ETV correspondent Nazmul Huda denied the allegation.
"I reported the news quoting the police," Nazmul said.
