Twenty-four candidates were detained last Friday for allegedly adopting unfair means in the Dhaka University's 'Gha Unit' admission tests for the 2014-15 session, reports bdnews24.com.

RAB claims to have also detained 12 members of a racket that assisted university admission seekers in cheating in entry tests.

As many as 105,516 aspirants sat for the tests, contending for 1,416 seats.

DU acting Proctor Amzad Hossain said 16 candidates had been detained for cheating with the help of various gadgets.

Mr Hossain said the university would take steps against the 'cheaters'.

Meanwhile, RAB claimed to have detained 12 suspected members of a 'cheating racket' and seven admission seekers from Dhaka Thursday night.

"The racket members supplied answers to the candidates through mobile phones and are involved with question paper leak," RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan said.

"Seven admission seekers detained with them have admitted to getting help from the racket," he said, adding that the racket had made a big sum of money through cheating.

About 25 candidates were detained on similar charges during admission tests to the university's 'Ka', 'Kha', and 'Ga' units for the new session.
