4 bureaucrats show-caused

Three secretaries and a joint secretary have been show-caused for securing freedom-fighter credentials by committing fraud, reports bdnews24.com.

The public administration ministry's Senior Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury told bdnews24.com on Monday that they sought explanations from the public servants.

They have been asked to come up with explanations within 10 working days.

Those who have been showcaused are Health Secretary M Niaz Uddin Miah, Public Service Commission's Secretary AKM Amir Hossain, former Liberation War Affairs Secretary KH Masud Siddique, currently OSD (officer on special duty), and the same ministry's Joint Secretary Abul Kasem Talukder, also an OSD at present.

No action, however, has been taken against former PMO Secretary Molla Waheeduzzaman, now chairman of the Privatisation Commission, as his freedom-fighter certificate has been 'withheld' and not cancelled, said Chowdhury.
