48 receive CIP cards

About 48 entrepreneurs have received commercially important person (CIP) cards-2017 for their outstanding contribution to the country's industrial sector.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun handed over the CIP cards as the chief guest among the awardees on Wednesday at a programme at a city hotel.

Prime Minister's private industry and investment affairs adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman, state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder and president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Sheikh Fazle Fahim were present as special guests.

Out of the 48 entrepreneurs, 42 received CIP cards for their outstanding performances in eight categories while six others got the status in the ex-officio category.

Among the 42 businessmen, 15 received the status for large industries in terms of production while five for large industries in terms of service, nine for medium industries (production), three for medium industries (service), five for small industries (production), one for small industries (service), two for micro industries and two for cottage industries.

Abdul Matlub Ahmed received a CIP card as president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Md Siddiqur Rahman as president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Rupali Haque Chowdhury as president of the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Selima Ahmed as president of the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI), Salahuddin Kasem Khan as President of the Bangladesh Employers' Federation (BEF) and Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon as president of the National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB).

CIPs from the large industries (production) are Alihussain Akberali, chairman of BSRM Steels Ltd, Mohammad Ali Talukder, chairman of D&S Pretty Fashions Ltd, Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, managing director of Zinnat Fashions Ltd, Md Abdur Razzak, managing director of JMI Syringe and Medical Devices Ltd, BM Shoeb, managing director of Nannu Spinning Mills Ltd, Md Shafiqur Rahman, managing director of Hams Garments Ltd, Parvez Rahman, managing director of BRB Cable Industries Ltd, SAK Ekramuzzaman, managing director of RAK Ceramics Bangladesh Ltd, Firoz Alam, managing director of Bengal Poly and Paper Sack Ltd, Md Badsha Mia, managing director of Badsha Textiles Ltd, Abu Noman Howlader, managing director of BBS Cables Ltd, Safwan Sobhan, managing director of Bashundhara Paper Mills Ltd, Mahreen Nasir, director of Mir Ceramics Ltd, Anjan Chowdhury, managing director of Square Food and Beverage Ltd, and Md Nasir Uddin, managing director of Universal Jeans Ltd.

CIPs from large industries (service) are Khandakar Monir Uddin, managing director of STS Holdings Ltd, Shajedul Islam, vice chairman of Navana Real Estate Ltd, Engineer Mohammad Atikur Rahman, managing director of The Civil Engineers Ltd, Mir Nasir Hossain, managing director of Mir Akhter Hossain Ltd, Mohammad Riad Ali, managing director of Intraco Refueling Station Ltd.

CIPs from medium industries (production) are: Mohammad Fayazur Rahman Bhuiyan, proprietor of Jaj Bhuiyan Textiles Mills Ltd, Md Enamul Hassan Khan, chairman and managing director of Prome Agro Food Ltd, Abdus Sobhan, managing director of Auko-Tex Ltd, Mahidul Islam Khan, managing director of Citadel Apparels Ltd, Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan Liton, managing director of Madhobdi Dyeing Finishing Mills Ltd, Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, managing director of Fu-Wang Foods Ltd, Ajmat Rahman, managing director of Far East Dresses Ltd, Md Musa Meah, chairman of Kuliarchar Sea Foods (Cox's Bazar) Ltd, and ZM Golam Nabi, managing director of Bashumati Distribution Ltd.

CIPs from medium industries (services) are: Shafiul Islam, chairman of Navana Ltd, Jesmin Sultana, director of Shanta Holdings Ltd, and Khan Md Aftabuddin, chairman of Spectra Engineers Ltd.

CIPs from small industry (production) are: UM Ashek, managing director of Annesha Style Ltd, Md Ali Hossain, managing director of Sonali Fabrics and Textile Mills Ltd, Md Misber Rahman, managing director of Kiam Metal Industries Ltd, Rezaul Karim, director of Amanat Shah Weaving Processing Ltd, and Syed Harun Gani, director of Hundred Plus Expo Ltd.

CIPs from small industry (service) are: Md Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub, managing director of Fair Distribution Ltd, Abul Kalam Bhuiyan, managing director of Jamuna Meter Industries Ltd, and Joshoda Jibon Deb Nath, managing director of Technomedia Ltd.

Adam Tamiji Haque, managing director of Haque Drycell Ltd and Masuda Yesmin Urmy, proprietor of Smart Leather Products were awarded the CIP status in the cottage industry category.
