Five more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours until Sunday morning, while 969 children were infected afresh, according to health authorities
Of the fatalities, four children died with measles-like symptoms and another child died with confirmed measles infection, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its daily bulletin.
With the latest daily tally, the total fatalities from measles and measles-like symptoms reached 758 since March 15.
Over the past 24 hours, 90 children were confirmed to have contracted measles, while 879 others developed measles-like symptoms, it said.
Of them, 849 newly infected children got admitted to hospitals and 843 others were discharged after recovery from the disease.
The DGHS reported 111,480 suspected measles cases and 13,500 confirmed infections from mid-March until July 12.
Meanwhile, one person died from dengue and 350 others were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease across Bangladesh in the 24 hours until Sunday morning, the DGHS said.
With the latest fatality, the total death toll from dengue reached 25 this season, it said.
