7 die in city in storm-related incidents

The rampaging storm claimed at least seven lives in the city now hit by power outages and lack of water supply, reports bdnews24.com.
Power blacked out Thursday midnight, plunging the city into darkness except for pockets of residential areas in Tikatuli and Paltan.
People stayed indoors in the wake of the cyclone that measured more powerful than the 1991 cyclone that killed about 0.14 million people.
The storm blasted roofing off many houses in the city. The road in and out of Dhaka University, Ramna Park and Suhrawardy Udyan were littered with uprooted trees or broken branches and twigs.
Police recovered seven bodies from different parts of the capital Friday and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Most of them died from cold. Most of them were unidentified.
The storm struck Dhaka shortly after 9.0pm Thursday.
Shahbagh police found three bodies: a 30-year-old unidentified man from the sidewalk, east of Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University, an 80-year-old woman from in front of the memorial to three national leaders and a 65-year-old man from in front of Curzon Hall.
Ramna police recovered the body of a 30-year-old man from the sidewalk near Dhaka Club.
Uttarkhan police recovered a 30-year-old man's body from Matirbazar area at about 9.45am Friday.
One man was crushed dead by a falling tree in Uttara. He was sitting near the Fantasy Kingdom park Thursday, when the storm struck.
A man identified as Abdul Khaleque, 28, was electrocuted in Mirpur.
