COX'S BAZAR, Dec 31 (UNB): Seven people, including the drivers of two CNG-run auto-rickshaws, were abducted by a gang of miscreants on Hoaikyong-Shamlapur road in Teknaf on Tuesday morning.
Shamlapur CNG auto-rickshaws lineman Abdur Rahim said that a gang of armed robbers intercepted the two auto-rickshaws travelling from Hoaikyong to Shamlapur around 8:00am.
Later, they kidnapped the drivers and the passengers. The names of the abductees could not be known immediately, he added.
Shovan Kumar Shaha, sub-inspector of the Baharchhara Investigation Centre, said, "Soon after receiving the news, we rushed to the scene."
It was not clear how many people were abducted in the incident, he said, adding: "We recovered the two auto-rickshaws from the spot."
The latest abduction incident took place a day after some 20 armed robbers kidnapped grocery shopkeeper Jasim from Boro Dail area of Baharchhara union.
