7 more children die of measles, symptoms


Seven more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours until 8:0 am on Tuesday, according to health authorities.
With the latest daily tally, the total fatalities from measles related deaths rose to 765 since mid-March this year.
Of the total fatalities, 94 were reported as confirmed measles cases, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its daily bulletin.
Meanwhile, as many as 868 suspected and 122 confirmed measles infections were reported in the past 24 hours. The total suspected measles infections rose 113,244 and confirmed infections to 13,735 since March15 last, said DGHS.
In response to a measles outbreak rapidly spreading across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already vaccinated over 18.47 million children since April.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease, which affects individuals of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.
Meanwhile, dengue claimed one more life in the past 24 hours while 329 patients were hospitalised with dengue symptoms.
The total dengue-related fatalities rose to 28 and the total caseloads reached 8,979 since January this year, according to the DGHS.
