A total of 83 entrepreneurs and commercial enterprises will receive the national export awards for their outstanding export performances in the past three fiscal years.
The awards will be handed over to the recipients next month for their performance in the fiscal years of 2004 -05, 2005-06 and 2006-07, export promotion bureau (EPB) sources said.
"We have made all arrangements for awarding the national export awards but are yet to confirm the date. It may be sometime in December this year," said one senior EPB official.
Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed is likely to distribute the awards among the exporters while adviser to Finance, Planning and Commerce will be the special guest in the ceremony.
Some 33 exporters and enterprises will be given gold medals, 28 silvers medals and 22 bronze medals depending on their performances.
A source hinted that country's some top corporate business entities were dropped from the recipients' list this time because of strict compliance with business ethics in the selection process.
Earlier, a total of 189 companies were supposed to receive the award for three fiscal years but 106 were dropped due to their alleged failure to pay bank loans and tax evasion.
