CHITTAGONG, Aug 26 (UNB): The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) seized a
Pajero jeep of former Jamaat MP Shahjahan Chowdhury from Tejgaon area in the capital Dhaka Saturday.
The ACC sources said Shahjahan Chowdhury, in his wealth statement, showed the price of his jeep as Tk 0.241 million (2.41 lakh).
According to the statement, Shahjahan Chowdhury impor-ted the Pajero from Japan in MP quota at Tk 0.241 million. But after investigation, the ACC officials found that the jeep was imported at Tk 4.90 million (49 lakh) with a VAT of Tk 15.50 million (1.55 crore).
The officials seized the jeep from a garage in the capital on charge of concealing information in his statement, the sources said.
The ACC officials took the jeep under their custody and brought here Sunday.
Shahjahan Chowdhury, former MP of Chittagong constituency-14, went into hiding after submitting his wealth statement to the ACC head office in Dhaka in July.
