The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will begin inquiries after Eid into the latest list of 35 corruption suspects, published on October 4 having the names of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka, former AL ministers Tofail Ahmed and Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, and former caretaker government adviser Justice Fazlul Haque, reports UNB.
"Inquiries against corruption suspects is a continuous process. We'll start working after Eid… First, there will be primary inquiries, and if there is a merit, then the Commission will approve further inquiries," ACC Secretary Mokhles-ur-Rahman said at its regular briefing Monday afternoon.
Replying to a question, he said, there would be primary inquiries against all the 35 listed corruption suspects.
The ACC Thursday (Oct 4) published the new list, the fourth since January 11, containing the names of former ministers and lawmakers of BNP and Awami League as well as former bureaucrats. The name of Proshika Chairman Kazi Faruk Ahmed is also on the list.

These 35 names, predominantly politicians, were among the 80 suspects whose names appeared on the list made available on September 27.
At a press briefing Thursday, the ACC secretary said, the Commission would follow the same process as it did in the past in dealing with the individuals on this new list.
He said, as per law there would be primary inquiries against these individuals followed by instructions to them to submit their wealth statements within seven working days. Upon application, they would be allowed another seven working days, he added.
He also said, after the submission of wealth statements there would be inquiries, and subject to merit, first information reports (FIRs) would be filed. After FIRs, the investigations would have to be completed within two months, and then the Commission, if it is satisfied, would approve submission of chargesheets.
