FE REPORT

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) may seek assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States to help recover nearly Tk 1.0 trillion worth of money siphoned off from Bangladesh during the Awami League regime.

ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmeen said this on Monday following a meeting between ACC officials and an FBI team, led by legal Attaché Robert Cameron and Supervisory Special Agents, at the ACC headquarters.

In response to a question, Khorsheda told newsmen that the FBI had assured ACC officials of providing their assistance in this regard.

Earlier on Sunday, Finance Adviser Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed announced the formation of a task force to recover money smuggled abroad.

After a meeting of the Ministry of Commerce at the Secretariat, he informed the media that work is underway on the task force's operational procedures, its members, and the process.
