Actor Anwar Hossain no more

Anwar Hossain, popularly known as a 'Nawab without a crown' of Bangla filmdom, died at a city hospital early Friday. He was 82, report agencies.
The veteran actor who was admitted to city's Square Hospital on August 18 with various old-age complications breathed his last at around 2:30 am.
He left behind his wife, four sons, one daughter and a host of relatives, well-wishers and admirers to mourn his death. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the ailing actor in the hospital Thursday and gave a cheque for Tk 1.0 million (10 lakh) to his family members. Earlier, Leader of the Opposition and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia also gave a cheque for Tk 0.1 million for his treatment.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jum'a prayers Friday.
He was buried at Mirpur Shaheed Buddhijibi Graveyard in the afternoon after second namaz-e-janaza on the premises of Film Development Corporation (FDC).
Anwar Hossain was born on December 6 in 1931 at Murulia village under Jamalpur district. He passed matriculation from Jamalpur Zila High School in 1951.
Hossain made his debut in Tomar Amar in 1961 and two years later played the role of the hero in Salauddin's Surja Snan.
His performance in Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula (1967) placed him permanently in the hearts of millions of movie lovers.
In his long acting career of over four decades, the seasoned actor appeared in many challenging roles in about 500 movies.
The veteran actor won a lot of awards, including the National Film Award and Ekushey Padak in 1985, for his outstanding contribution to the film industry of the country.
