ADB to finance upgrade of four more highways

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will finance four highways to upgrade them with four lanes with a provision of movement for slow-driven vehicles.
Dhaka-Sylhet, Rangpur-Banglabandha, Rangpur-Burimari and Faridpur-Barisal highways are up for expansion.
ADB country director Manmohan Parkash said the multilateral lender is set to fund highway development on request from the prime minister.
A feasibility study on the upgradation of Faridpur-Barisal and Rangpur-Burimari highways is already done, he disclosed.
Mr Parkash said this to road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader during a courtesy call on him at his ministry on Wednesday.
The government is currently upgrading Joydevpur-Chandra-Tangail-Elenga and Hatikamrul-Rangpur highways along with Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway widening work with ADB's financial support.
