Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque directed the officials on Wednesday for expediting the activities of the projects so that those can be completed within the stipulated time, sources said.
He also urged the grass root level officials to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication.
The minister made the directives at a monthly annual development programme (ADP) meeting at the conference room of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
The meeting elaborately discussed on the progress of the projects taken by different departments under the agriculture ministry. The government has allocated over Tk 17 billion for 65 projects of the agriculture ministry during the fiscal year (FY) 2019-20.
Of the total allocated budget, about 83 per cent or over Tk 14 billion has been allocated for 26 mega projects of different departments of the agriculture ministry.
The MoA has set a target to float tenders for 707 projects under the ADP of the current fiscal year.
The ministry has so far floated 228 tenders. Out of them, work orders of 45 projects were issued, according to an agriculture ministry official who attended the Wednesday's meeting.
Dr Razzaque urged the officials to submit progress reports of the projects every month to the ministry.
