The country's exports and imports by air fell significantly on security concerns, freight forwarders' association leaders said on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference, the association leaders said laws and rules related to air cargoes needed to be upgraded in line with those in other countries.
Both import and export through air cargoes fell in the recent years due to security issues, Muammar Ahmad, Director-Finance of the Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association, said replying to a question.
He was speaking at a press conference organised on the occasion of the Executive Council Meeting (ECM) and annual general meeting of the Federation of Asia Pacific Air Cargo Association (FAPAA) at a city hotel.
Speaking at the press meet, Muammar Ahmad said though the country's exports and imports by air fell but the volume through the sea routes increased.
He also said they discussed security issues, among other things, at the AGM.
He said they arranged trainings on many topics, including harmful goods and cargo security, for the people related to air shipments.
Chairman of FAPAA Niral Kadawatharatchie, among others, was present at the press meet.
