AL factional clash leaves one killed

KUSHTIA, Aug 15 (UNB): A local activist of Jubo League was killed and five other people suffered bullet injuries during a clash between two factions of Awami League over joining a Mourning Day rally at Milpara in the district town on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sabuj, 23, son of Mobarak of Jhalupara of the town. Witnesses said a group AL men brought out a rally from Milpara area around 12pm marking the National Mourning Day.
The clash ensued when activists of another AL faction, led by expelled AL leader and former AL district general secretary Mominur Rahman Momiz, tried to join the rally.
Chase and counter-chase took place between the two groups and three to four shots were fired during the clash, leaving five people, including Sabuj, Bidyut, 38, and Ajmal Hossain, 28, injured.
They were rushed to the Kushtia 250-bed general hospital where doctors declared Sabuj dead.
