Awami League (AL) MP from Barisal-5 constituency Shawkat Hossain Hiron died at Apollo Hospitals in the capital on Wednesday morning. He was 57, reports UNB.
Hiron, who had been undergoing treatment at the hospital, was declared dead about 7:00am, said Shahidul Islam Shahid, duty manager of the hospital.
Hiron, also a former mayor of Barisal City Corporation, was admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on March 24 after he suffered a brain stroke and later he was brought back home from there on April 4, said Litu, a close friend of the deceased.
Hiron afterwards was admitted to Apollo Hospitals and kept at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital as his health conditions deteriorated.
