Another arrested in Mitford murder case


RAB arrested another suspect in connection with the brutal murder of Lal Chand Sohag, who was killed in front of the city's Mitford Hospital.
Eight out of nineteen accused in the murder case have been arrested so far.
RAB-11 Commanding Officer Lt Col HM Sajjad Hossain said that acting on a tip-off, a special team conducted a raid around 2:00 AM in the Bandar area of Narayanganj and arrested the accused, Nannu.
Nannu was one of the four individuals captured in a viral video attacking the 39-year-old businessman with bricks and cement blocks to kill him.
Earlier, on Sunday (July 13), two other accused, Sajib and Rajib, were arrested from Dhaka and Netrokona. They have been placed on a five-day remand for interrogation.
Police are doing their best to arrest the remaining accused in the murder case, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman said.
"The fugitive accused will not be spared under any circumstances," he told the FE.
Victim's daughter Manjuara Begum (42) filed a case with Kotwali Police Station on July 10. In the case, 19 accused were named and another 15-20 unidentified suspects were also included.
Law enforcers collected CCTV footages and carried out raids at different places in the capital on Friday.
Mahmudul Hasan Mohin (41) and Tarique Rahman Robin (22) were arrested on July 11. A foreign-made pistol was also recovered from Tarique Rahman Robin's possession.
Later, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) also arrested Alamgir (28) and Monir alias Choto Monir (25).
A police team of Kotwali Police Station, during a raid early on Saturday, arrested another accused, Md Titon Gazi (32), for murdering the trader.
Among the four arrested is Mahmudul Hasan alias Moin, who identifies himself as a Jubo Dal leader in the area.
The case will be transferred to the Speedy Trial Tribunal and arrangements are being made for an expedited trial under Section 10 of the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, 2002.
