Calls made from a land phone to another land phone will automatically be diverted to a smart phone belonging owner of the latter by an app, developed by a company owned by Bangladesh nationals, if none picks up the phone at the receiving end.
Even the land phone owners would be able to make calls to land phones via cell phones using the same app without any extra charge.
The new app has been developed by the REVE Systems, an information technology solutions company.
To avail the service, mobile phone users have to have 3G (third generation) internet connection, said the company that is renowned all over the world mainly for mobile VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology.
The app in question will be activated in the cell phone only if the land phone company concerned makes available a software (app) to its subscribers against payment of an specific amount of money, said Raihan Hossain, head of global sales of REVE.
Talking about the issue, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the REVE Systems M Rezaul Hasan said the use of land phone is declining worldwide because of mobile phones' rapid growth. Despite this, land phones carry certain image in the communications world and have appeal among the people. "That is why we developed such an innovative solution for survival of the service," he mentioned.
The REVE Systems, headquartered in Singapore, is owned by Bangladesh nationals. It has been offering IT solution services to 75 countries of the world though its branch offices including the USA, UK, India and Bangladesh.
The company mentioned that the new solution for land phone service had been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress last month, where the company got huge responses from different European and African telecom companies regarding the innovative service.
Mr Rezaul Hasan said the new app for the land phone has created hope among the European businessmen for increasing market share of the landline business.
REVE Systems mentioned about the new solution that the landline users can easily enjoy their land phone service by just installing an app in their mobile handsets that is connected with the 3G or WiFi internet. However, it will have no impact on call charge.
Like other countries of the world, landline business has been shrinking in Bangladesh.
