Arav Khan sentenced to 10 years' jail in arms case

A Dhaka Court on Tuesday sentenced Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan, a controversial gold trader, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in an arms case filed against him in 2015.
Judge of the Special Tribunal-14 in Dhaka, Murshid Ahmed, delivered the verdict after completing the trial of the case.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default he will have to serve three more months in jail.
According to the case documents, on January 28 in 2015, Arav Khan went to the house of his father-in-law Sekender Ali in Moghbazar to collect money at gunpoint. But Arav was arrested in front of his father-in-law's house with a loaded revolver.
A case was filed against Arav at Ramna Model Police Station in the incident.
Investigating the case, on March 1 in 2015, the investigating officer of the case submitted a charge-sheet against Arav Khan in the court. On May 10 in 2015, the court ordered the trial to begin by framing charges against Arav.
