Arif confesses to role in incident

Former Rab officer Arif Hossain, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the abductions and killings of seven people, on Wednesday confessed before a local court to his involvement in the incident, reports UNB.
Arif made a confessional statement before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate AKM Mahiuddin, said Mamunur Rashid Mondal, officer-in-charge of district Detective Branch of Police and also the investigation officer of the seven-murder case.
In his statement, Arif confessed to his involvement in the incident and described it in detail -- from abductions to killings, said Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan, president of Narayanganj District Lawyers Association.
Meanwhile, the High Court Wednesday ordered police, Rab and seven-member probe body to submit to it by July 9 their further progress reports on investigation into the Narayanganj seven-murder case.
Passing the order, the HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore also asked the three probe panels to submit before it the final investigation report (if it is completed) with recommendations within the period.
