Army officer killed in Munshiganj car crash

An army officer was  killed and two others injured in a road accident  on Friday at Munshiganj's Gazaria on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, reports bdnews24.com.

The deceased was Major Fazlul Kayum, 33, from Kalabagan in Dhaka, Gazaria Police Station OC Ferdous Hossain said.

The two injured-Navy Lieutenant Mafiur Rahman, 27, and a peon, 'Giasuddin', 25, -- were given first aid at Sonargaon Health Complex.

The two officials of the armed forces were on their way to Dhaka Cantonment from Comilla Cantonment to take part in intelligence training on Friday.

Major Kayum was driving the car which hit a roadside tree, the OC said.

He was declared dead after being taken to Sonargaon Health Complex, he said.

The body was later sent to Dhaka Cantonment, he added.
