Arson, bomb attacks mark blockade\\\'s 42nd day

Arson, bomb attacks, detention and sporadic clashes across the country marked the BNP-Jamaat-enforced 42nd day of the countrywide indefinite blockade and the second day of fresh 72-hour shutdown.
At least 10 vehicles, including two compartments of an intercity train in Narayanganj, were torched in different places of the country on Sunday night and on Monday.
Police also detained at least 175 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists across the country during the period.
The BNP-Jamaat-led 20-Party Alliance called the indefinite blockade and shutdown, demanding stepping down of the ruling government and holding national election afresh.  
Two bogies of a passenger train were set afire at Narayanganj central railway station at 11 pm on Sunday. However, no one was reportedly injured in the incident.
Station master Golam Mostofa said miscreants set ablaze two bogies of the train as soon as it arrived at the station.
On the other hand, miscreants torched a passenger bus of Turag Paribahan in Badda link-road area in the capital in the afternoon.
Fire Brigade sources said the bus was set afire at around 4 pm, which was later doused by fire-fighters. Seven people were slightly injured in stampede during the arson attack.   
Besides, two buses were torched in Gazipur, one in early morning and another in afternoon.
A passenger bus was torched at Gazipur Chowrasta at around 1:30 pm, and another bus was set on fire at Chandra intersection at around 4:30am. There was no immediate report of any injury in the incidents.
Meanwhile, a bus was torched in Chatgaon Thana area of the port-city on Monday noon. Miscreants set fire to the vehicle, standing
near a patrol pump at around 1.00 pm. No one was arrested and injured in the incident.
In Bogra, at least five vehicles, including a passenger bus and two goods-laden trucks, were torched on Monday.
Miscreants torched a passenger bus of Bablu Paribahan at 6 am, which was parked at Thonthonia bus station. Another fish-laden truck was torched in front of Balaka Cinema Hall on Bogra-Rangpur Highway at 4 pm.
Earlier at night, two goods-laden trucks and a CNG-run taxi were torched in Bogra town. Nobody was injured in the arson attacks.
In Noakhali, BNP activists vandalized at least 15 vehicles, as police obstructed their rally.
Police also detained 175 BNP-Jamaat activists, including 34 in the capital and 14 in Chittagong.
