Assailants shoot college girl in city

Unidentified assailants shot a student of Bangladesh Rifles Public School and College in a broad daylight in the city's busiest Dhanmondi area Sunday, reports UNB.

The injured, identified as Samia Taslim (17), daughter of film star Siddiqur Rahman alias Danny Sidak, was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.

Samia's younger brother Sajib Ehtesham said Samia came under attack near Zigatala bus stand when she was returning their Dhanmondi residence from a coaching centre at about 10:45am.

Three assailants in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw waylaid a rickshaw that was carrying Samia, shot her on her abdomen and fled the scene, leaving Samia critically injured.
