The Education Ministry will suspend the monthly pay order (MPO) of about 248 educational institutions going nil in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations this year.
'We'll suspend the MPO for teacher-staff salary from the government coffer of those institutions, which have recorded zero per cent pass percentage in the secondary level exams,' Education Secretary Md Momtazul Islam said, while announcing the results of the SSC examination at a press conference at the Dhaka Education Board office Tuesday.
He blamed the teachers of these institutions for the poor performance.
As per statistics, not a single student of these 248 educational institutions could pass in the SSC, Dakhil and SSC (Vocational) examinations.
