The Bangladesh Air Force and the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) were providing security duties at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport on Tuesday instead of Ansar personnel who are on strike demanding permanent-employment status for the last five days.
There is no disruption of the airport security system in absence of the Ansar members at the moment, officials of the Chattogram airport said, as a total of 200 Ansar members, who used to stay on duty at the airport in three shifts, are on strike.
On August 22, the Ansar members went on strike for permanent employment status, Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, the public relations officer of the airport, said, adding some security officials of the airports authorities worked double shifts to cover additional duties.
He said that the airport authority is vigilant to deal with any unexpected situation with the aim of uninterrupted passenger service.
