Bank A/Cs of 2 ex ministers frozen

The bank accounts of former LGRD Minister Md Tajul Islam and State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Mohibbur Rahman, have been frozen.

Additionally, the bank accounts of their wives, children, and other family members have been ordered to be suspended.

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the financial intelligence wing of Bangladesh Bank, issued directives to banks and financial institutions across the country to freeze these accounts.

A senior official from BFIU confirmed the development on Monday.

All transactions through both personal and business accounts of the individuals whose accounts have been frozen will be halted. No transactions can be made from these accounts for the next 30 days. If necessary, this suspension period may be extended.

Earlier on August 29, the BFIU summoned the bank account details of former LGRD Minister Tajul Islam, along with those of his wife and children.

Additionally, the BFIU instructed the submission of information concerning accounts and other relevant details related to institutions connected to his family.
