Bangladesh Bank has asked all the banks to install security cameras in and around their branches to ensure the safety and security of their vaults, reports UNB.
Against the backdrop of different untoward incidents in recent times, the central bank issued the directives Monday to the banks through a circular. The circular, issued by Banking Regulation and Policy Department (BRPD), said the banks are being asked to set up adequate number of security cameras like CCTV, VIP cameras, spy cameras, digital video recorders (DVRs) at the entrances, inside the branches, and also outside to ensure enhanced security of the bank establishment.
Meanwhile, BB has asked the dealer banks dealing with foreign currency business to properly comply with its directives to check any kind of under-invoicing or over-invoicing.
The instruction came at a meeting with authorised foreign currency dealer banks with Bangladesh Bank executive director Md Ahsanullah in the chair.
He warned that the Bangladesh Bank would not allow any deviation of the compliance by the banks.
