Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin on Wednesday urged businesses to adopt measures for national growth while honouring the sacrifice of the 2,000 martyrs of the July mass uprising.
"In the past, the country's money has been laundered abroad. The country's resources have been concentrated in the hands of a few people. All economic and political institutions have been destroyed through widespread corruption, which has put pressure on the country's economy," he said, reports BSS.
The adviser said this while speaking at a seminar titled "Navigating Bangladesh's Evolving Economic Landscape" at a hotel in Chattogram.
Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMAB) organized the event.
In his speech, Bashir said an interim government has been formed in the country through an uprising of students and the public against discrimination.
This government is working with the promise of restructuring the political and economic systems, he added.
Bashir, however, highlighted the barriers to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), noting the negative impact of high tariff values on competitiveness.
