FE Report
The central bank of Bangladesh has asked the commercial banks to receive money through approved agencies by August 14 from pilgrims seeking to perform Hajj this year.
In a circular issued in this connection Thursday, the Bangladesh Bank (BB) also said it will allow foreign currencies against payment of pilgrims' house rents both in Macca and Madina and their personal expenses, official sources said.
Besides, each Hajji performing Hajj through private agencies, will be able to take maximum US$350 or equivalent in Saudi Riyal, if he wants.
In the circular, the BB directed banks to follow the instructions properly in issuing foreign currencies.
In no way, money can be deposited directly to the agencies instead of their particular bank accounts, the BB said in the circular.
The banks will issue Saudi Riyal equivalent to Tk 20,963 for each pilgrim excepting house rent to meet different expenses like transport cost, the circular added.
