BCL factions clash at JnU, 20 hurt

At least 20 persons including a female teacher and some female students were injured during a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at the Jagannath University Monday over establishing supremacy at the campus.
Witnesses said the campus violence ensued at about 11:00am, when supporters of the BCL's Jagannath University unit president Kamrul Ahsan Ripon beat up a supporter of the unit's general secretary Gazi Abu Sayed.
Later, the group loyal to the general secretary attacked the followers of Ripon triggering the skirmish that left at least 20 people hurt.
A teacher of the geography department Sayda Nazia Ishrat, who was passing through the area, was wounded.
Female students-Shaila Akhter, Tonusri Dey, Suraya Akhter, Rina Akhter and Tonni-were also injured during chase and counter-chase.
The injured persons were sent to the National Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
