Benazir's wife, daughters also skip ACC quizzing

FE REPORT | June 25, 2024 00:00:00

Like former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, his wife and daughters have also skipped quizzing of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over graft allegations and amassing huge properties by the family.

They didn't appear before the ACC on Monday, but sent a written explanation to the anti-graft body through their lawyer.

The anti-graft body also summoned Benazir on the day before (Sunday). He didn't also appear before the ACC and sent a statement through his lawyer.

At a press briefing on Monday, ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmeen said that Benazir's wife and daughters didn't appear before the ACC on Monday and sent a written statement to the ACC.

The explanation of Benazir's wife and daughters was submitted on Thursday last along with the explanation of Benazir, she added.

Ms Yasmeen further said that the ACC investigation team concerned will submit their report on the set time and then the Commission will take its decision regarding the issue.

The ACC on May 28 summoned former IGP Benazir and his family members to quiz over graft allegations and amassing huge properties beyond known sources of income.

The ACC asked the former IGP to appear before it on June 6 and his wife and children on June 9.

However, Benazir and his family members didn't appear before the ACC on the stipulated dates. They sought time to appear before the ACC and face interrogation.

The ACC later asked Banazir to appear before it on June 23 and his wife and daughters on June 24.
