BNP-AL clashes leave 27 hurt in city

Police Friday arrested 76 BNP activists including two ward councilors - Hasan and Masud Khan - after sporadic clashes between supporters of BNP and Awami League in city's Mirpur and Pallabi, reports UNB.
At least 27 activists were injured during the clashes, police and witnesses said.
After the clashes, police and RAB rescued around 76 BNP activists of Mirpur and Pallabi including the two DCC councilors who were besieged at the councilor office of ward no 6 allegedly by the local ruing party activists.
They were reportedly gheraoed for about two hours from 3:55 pm. The law enforcers rescued them at about 6pm and took them to Pallabi thana where they were arrested.
Journalists were not allowed to enter the Pallabi thana to collect information about the arrest.
The city BNP organised the demonstration in front of the councilor's office of ward no 6 in Mirpur to press for resolving the crisis of electricity, water and gas.
