BNP gives Tk 130m to flood victims


Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has distributed relief materials worth over Tk 130 million to flood-affected people.
BNP's Standing Committee Member Dr A Z M Jahid Hossain, also the head of the party's relief collection committee, told this while talking to journalists at its Nayapaltan central office in the capital on Wednesday.
He said BNP is not receiving relief materials from the persons who are being treated as opportunists and are involved in acts of moral turpitude.
He said BNP will start helping the flood-affected people in rebuilding their houses and assist them for farm cultivation after completion of providing foods materials in the next couple of days.
About reconstitution of the Election Commission, he said the Chief Election Commissioner and other commissioners must resign to save themselves from public wrath.
He demanded restructuring of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) by removing those who are being known as opportunists.
Adviser to BNP chairperson Abdus Salam Azad, joint secretary general Abdus Salam Azad, party's Swechchasebak affairs secretary Mir Sorafat Ali Sopu were present, among others.
